Competition within the UK car insurance market is getting more competitive by the day. The industry has witnessed various new companies specialising in a variety of specific sectors of the car insurance market.

One of the most popular sectors is womans only car insurance in the UK, a section of the market which is continuing to grow as the number of female drivers on the road increases.

The new market specific companies have created a number of car insurance policies which have a number of elements specially constructed for the women's only market. Whilst there is still the traditional women's car insurance, there has also been the introduction of aspects like handbag insurance, womenss breakdown recovery services and a women's twenty four hour emergency contact phoneline.

The Ministry of Justice in the UK recently reported that the big differences between the standard of male and female drivers in the United Kingdom. The results revealed that 82% of all speeding conviction in 2007 were committed by male drivers and 86% of all careless driving crimes were committed by males. These figures do not account for the fact that there is far more male drivers than female drivers on the road, however the results show that female drivers do commit less offences and are more responsible on the road.

The result of this is that companies are now able to give female drivers policies at much lower raes than the male counterparts. The is even more prominent in the younger part of the market with young males drivers commiting even higher percentages of offences and thus making the saving for young female drivers greater again.
